Mail Call

Mail Call

unnamed-7This week didn’t turn out as I planned. Like many of us, I thought Hillary Clinton was going to be our next President. I even had a whole marketing campaign planned: Bras are everywhere, even in the Oval Office. As my father, a veteran, told me a long long time ago, success is based on your ability to adjust. It hasn’t felt right to do any sort of marketing all week.

Because of Veterans Day, it’s a three-day weekend for many people. For me that means I’ll be working three days in a row at the bra shop. I’ve never been more grateful for my job and opportunity. I am the American Dream.

I go to church with a couple that is in their 80’s. He’s a Navy vet and a few weeks ago they talked about back when he was on an aircraft carrier in the sea and she would write him letters. The mailbag would show up and all the soldiers would huddle around hoping there would be something for them inside. As soon as the bag arrived on that ship, someone would immediately declare, “Mail call for Hawkins!” They could tell by the smell of the perfume. She would make sure every letter was drenched.

I’m going to get myself dressed in red, white, and blue today, put on some perfume, and go to work. I’m going to do some marketing. Bras might not be in the Oval Office, but they are absolutely everywhere else. We have a lot of them at JOY. Any that are red, white, or blue are 10% off this weekend.

Thank you for your support.  May God Bless America.
