Five Bras That Fit: “Yeah.”

Five Bras That Fit: “Yeah.”

Girl Yeah This is the first in a series of “Five Bras That Fit:  Five Fittings That Touched My Soul This Year.”  This one is titled, “Yeah.”  Thank you for letting me share these experiences with you.

“Yeah.”

There was a little bit of, “Mom, do I really have to?” but then she then she ended up following me into the dressing room.  Once we got in there I told her how cool her t-shirt was and she said, “I wear two t-shirts because I don’t want to get teased.“

“Who teases you?” I asked.

“Boys.  …Well, some girls too.  …It’s ok.  …It’s not that bad.”   “…It’s just better if I just wear two shirts.“

OK, “ I said, “Well, let’s see what’s going on.  What are you wearing now?”

She crumpled her face knowing that I meant her bra, “The one I’m wearing is too small.”

“Can I see it?”

Crumpled face met confused and panicked face.   “What?  …This is weird!  This is SO awkward!”

I nodded, “I know, but it’s what I do.  I help people find bras that fit them.  To do that, it helps to see what is going on.”

Her head cocked to the side and she looked me in the eye, “You kind of have a weird job.”

(I thought to myself, “…Oh, if she only knew of the weird jobs I’ve had…)

“I know,” I said, “…but all of us girls are wearing bras and so I just like to help.  Can you just let me try to help?  It’s what I do for a job.“

“Ok, but this is like SO weird.”

I brought her some bras to try and promised not to look until she had one on that seemed ok.

“I like this one,” I heard her say as I was staring into the corner.

“Can I see?”

“Ohh…kay…you can see.”

I turned and looked.  “Oh, I do too.  Seems pretty good…Why don’t you try it with just one of your t-shirts on?”

“Ohh…kay.”  She reached over to get a t-shirt and put it on and then proclaimed in total disbelief, “You can’t see anything!”

I kind of laughed,   “That’s good, right?”

I then asked her to put her hands up in the air which led to more disbelief, “It doesn’t move!”

She brought her hands down, cocked her head and asked, “Can I show my mom?”

I open the door and she stepped out into the shop.  “Mom.  This one’s good.”

Mom looked up and over from one of the comfy chairs and leaned a little forward with a face-full of both hope and relief, “You look great, sweetie.  You like it?”

“Yeah.”

“OK,” Mom said nodding, “Let’s get it.”

As I closed the door back behind us in the dressing room, she looked up to me asked, “Do people ever wear the bras home?”

“Yeah,” I nodded.  “You want to?”

“Yeah.”

There was a pause and as she folded up that second t-shirt she said, “You have kind of a cool job.”

Yeah.

Hell yeah,
