Sticky boobs were a hot item in Manchester last week. It was the week before Prom and Prom “bra” shopping brought a lot of teenage girls into the shop. We had a blast with girls bringing in their dresses or showing us pictures on their iPhone. They were looking for just the right “underthing.” In many cases, the right “underthing” was the “sticky boob.”
Sticky boobs are a “solution” for those backless dresses that are popular these days. If you have a teenage daughter, you probably have seen these tops or dresses that go low in the back – so low that a regular bra strap would show. If you’re perky and a little bit smaller in the cup, sticky boobs do an admirable “bra” job so that one can wear these backless clothes. With the local high school Prom on Saturday, sticky boobs were in high demand. Boy, am I grateful to one particular teenage girl who gave me some Manchester sticky boob scoop across the counter last Monday morning:
“BCBG is sending girls here. I just want you to know… They are out of the sticky boobs so they are sending girls here. I think they always do anyway…but I just wanted you to know.”
This was definitely information I wanted to know. I realized I had one big responsibility last week and that was to NOT… be OUT… of sticky boobs.
I checked my stock and saw that I didn’t have as many sticky boobs on-hand as I thought I did. I could use more stock anyway, but now with this added information about BCBG, I really needed more. I put an order together immediately by emailed it in to the sticky boob company. I sent it with a request for overnight shipping and followed up with a phone call. I wasn’t going to leave sticky boob stock to chance. JOY needed sticky boobs. It was Prom Week in Manchester, Vermont. This stuff is important.
The sticky boobs arrived Tuesday and we filled up the shelves. Girls filed in all week asking for sticky boobs by name. One girl came in who just looked like she wanted to buy some sticky boobs so I said, “Sticky Boobs?” …and she said, “How did you know?”
The real company name for the sticky boobs is the “NuBra” and they are heroes for packing up our order the very day we placed it and getting it to us pronto. Thanks to our neighbors across town at BCBG for not only having these popular style of dresses for our girls, but also for the retail community love. It means a lot.
That girl who gave me the heads up on Monday morning probably has no idea the catastrophe she prevented. Thanks to her wanting me to know, there was no sticky boob shortage in Manchester. With at least one more Prom this coming weekend, I’d say we are in the height of sticky boob season. This is serious business this sticky boob business…
That picture was from my senior Prom. The styles were a little different back then and at least with my crew and our dress choices, there was no need for sticky boobs. Seems like hairspray was the hot item back then – thank goodness no one in Coventry, Rhode Island was out of that. Ah, the 80’s…
