We’re on the brink of another holiday season with Thanksgiving just a week away – yikes! The UPS guy is rolling in boxes daily and we are re-arranging the shop to make room for extra sleepwear and holiday items – can you say red bras, holly soaps, and pajamas every which way? We’re closed on Thanksgiving (and Mother’s Day too for calendar keepers), but we’re bells on every other day leading up to Christmas. It’s our third (can you believe it?) holiday season – here’s a Top 5 of what you’ve been asking about!
Black Friday
We’ll be open at 10 a.m. Courtney and I will be two-wheeling it into the parking lot coming back from out-of-state family visit (my niece!) and Julie will be there bright-eyed and bushy-tailed to open the doors wide. The outlets are open at 6 so you’re one of those early birds, do some buzzing, grab a coffee, and come on over to the shop! Someone asked us if we will be doing bra fittings on Black Friday – of course we will!
Small Business Saturday
This is something American Express came up in 2010 with to help drive shoppers to local merchants across the U.S. It’s the day after Black Friday and belly dancers will be performing in the shop from 3 to 5. It’s a dancing tradition now – 
3 years in a row. We’ll let you know what the rest of the neighborhood is doing on that day on Facebook and such. Park once and walk around to local shops in SoRo (that’s our lingo for the area in Manchester that is south of the rotary.) Seriously…Vermont Kitchen Supply, The Vermont Butcher Shop, Comollo Antiques and Fine Wine, Zippy Chicks, Manchester Sports, Zaccheo Art Gallery, Ponce Bistro, Little Rooster, and a new cheese shop…all just down the road a few paces from our fabulous Northshire Bookstore and all the shops in NoRo (get it?).
Gift Wrapping
Yes, yes, yes – not trying to cause a rift, but we have some VERY good gift wrappers. Did you know our bookkeeper Dorie used to gift wrap for Macy’s back in the day? We’re pulling her out from behind the desk and getting her in the gift wrapping mix. Seriously, you should see what Courtney and Julie can put together and Connie and Lila are no slouches either when it comes to this stuff. If you get me, well…I try hard!
Robes
Pima cotton, modal cotton, bamboo, soft, cozy, sexy, fleecy, tie-in-the front, zip-up in the front, CASHMERE. Finding a good robe is serious business – a major purchase when you consider how many times you are going to look at yourself in the mirror in it. Think about it…getting out of the shower, drying your hair, drinking your coffee…these are important parts of your day! Ladies, you can make it easy on Santa and come in and pick out the one you want and put it on a wish list…goes for anything in the shop!
Open Late
On Fridays December 4th and 11th, we’ll be open until 8 p.m. As a matter of fact, many shops will be open late in Manchester those nights as part of Manchester Merriment! December 11th will be MEN’s NIGHT…doesn’t mean ladies can’t come, but it does mean we are going to try to get the boys out for some shopping. Push them out the door that night, would you? It’s good for all of us!
