So many of the dress and top styles are calling for a strapless bra these days. Here at JOY all things underthings, we are answering the call. We have strapless styles from here to Sunday. Keep reading for our style overview and some shopping tips!
The Newcomers
After being in business for 5 years, we’ve seen and heard a lot about bras. At the recent Curve Expo trade show, we had a mission to come back with two specific strapless styles that we were lacking. One was a strapless with no padding. Many of our customers don’t like padding and until now, all of our strapless offerings have come with padding. Welcome to our new arrival from Wacoal, the “Halo Strapless.” The smooth brushed lace cups provide great support without adding any extra volume.
A trend we’ve seen grow and grow is the request for longline bustier type strapless bras, and this was definitely a style that we wanted to bring to Manchester in a big way. The Carnival brand had what we were looking for. We’ve brought in two specific styles of longlines to address this strapless need. One has a very low back – something many brides in particular have been requesting.
The Best Sellers
If you’ve purchased a strapless from us already, there is great likelihood that it was the Wacoal “Red Carpet” Strapless. We sell more of it than any other strapless and stock it in 32-42 and through H cup. Definitely a winner if you are a D-DDD. Smaller cups have been loving the Natori “Feathers” strapless and our offerings from “B’Tempted.”
Specialty Styles
With our philosophy that JOY is for Everyone, we believe that women with larger bands and cups should be able to wear a strapless too. The “Sculptress” style by Panache has been a God-send. Last Saturday, we sold this strapless bra in a 40H and a 42H and let us tell you that those women felt SUPPORTED. We have some 44 and 46 bands in stock too. The message here is don’t be shy if you think you are out of the strapless game – we have some tools!
Sometimes you have a top or dress that doesn’t necessarily show your entire shoulder, but has some sort of neckline that doesn’t work with traditional bra straps. This strapless by Lou has multiple inputs all around the top of the cup so you can move the straps to a place that falls in better line with the dress. An interesting solution, for sure.
Luxurious Elegance
For women looking for a more luxurious strapless, we offer the Prima Donna. Like most things that cost a little extra, the quality is just more superb. We sell them a lot to Mothers of the Bride and Groom. (what the heck, the budget is blown anyway, right?) A wonderful bra that Katherine at the shop here says “feels like a hug.”
Tips for buying a strapless:
1. Know that finding the right strapless is a challenge for women of all shapes and sizes. It might take trying a few on to get just the right fit. Find time in your schedule and allocate it to trying on options. Really important to try these things on before purchasing. We want you to be happy!
2. Be open to a different size and shape than the strapless bras that have frustrated you in the past. Many women are a different size in a strapless than they are in any other bra. As we say in the shop, “it’s not you, it’s the bra!”
3. Don’t be afraid to go DOWN in the band and UP in the cup. Having the center gore of a strapless lie right against your body is a key fit point. Many women go up in cup in a strapless…it’s just the way it is.
4. Bring the dress or top to make sure the bra works with it. We want you to walk out of here with total confidence that you are all set to wear your outfits with joy!
