Of course, we have a ton of gift ideas at the shop and are happy to help you, but even I have to admit that there isn’t necessarily something for everyone at JOY.  I’ve asked Courtney and Connie (two of the smartest, coolest, and most sensible women I’ve ever met) to tell us a little bit about their holiday gift-giving and shopping this year outside of the JOY walls.  Here’s what Courtney has to say!

My holiday gift giving this year is centered on hand-made and local.  Our area has so many talented artisans that shopping is fun and simple.  Simone Hughes of beke jewelry has lovely baubles, Stacy Gates of Bogate Designs, Luna Moth Designs.

Another great source I have discovered is Manchester Vt Marketplace, a site on Facebook where locals can post items for sale or requests for items they are searching for.  I have found several unique gift items this way.  I buy directly from locals and score some great one of a kind things.

When hand-making gifts, I nearly always find the supplies I need at R.K. Miles, Vermont Kitchen Supply, New Morning, or J.K. Adams.

I am pleased to report that I have remained true to my goal of not buying a single item online and purchasing very few things at big box retailers.

Thanks, Courtney!  We’ll hear from Connie soon and I’ll chime in too.  Working with these two day-in and day-out is more of a gift than I could ever hope for.  Happy shopping, and hey, if you need a break, stop on in.  We’ve always got the comfortable chairs and the music goin’… (and not necessarily holiday music either!)

Cheers,

Joy
